5 Healthy High Protein Pizza Recipes
Pizza. It’s got a bad reputation and for those adhering to a healthy lifestyle, it’s treated like a swear word. But pizza doesn’t have to be unhealthy. Not at all! And today we are going to show you how it is possible to have your nutritious pizza and quite literally eat it!
Plain Yet Healthy Ingredients
No meal in reality has to be unhealthy. To determine a meal healthy (or not), all starts with the ingredients you choose to include when making it. And when you are letting others make your food, say when eating out or getting takeaway pizzas, then there is no control or complete disclosure even over what you sort of ingredients you are ingesting each time.
A great way to ensure you only give yourself meal choices that make you thrive from the inside out, is to make your own meals from scratch. And the same goes for the pizza bases and toppings recipes here today. In true Half Human style, we have ensured all the recipes contain simple yet healthy ingredients, that are easy to make, yet might be different to what you usually think of when making a pizza recipe.
Yeast Free Simple Pizza Base Recipes
All of the pizza base recipes today have been created without yeast, this is because yeast can be problematic for many people. With many people walking around unaware that yeast is an issue for them personally. Also by not using yeast, it allows other creative ingredients in - often those that are more healthful.
Some of the pizza bases are out of the ordinary in their creation, but be sure to follow the recipe step by step and you will be surprised at the creative ways you can make a pizza. All of the pizza bases have been made with health in mind with an added vegan protein boost to the base. Now we’ve made you hungry, let’s get started and move over to the recipes!
1 ) High Protein Spelt Pizza With Avocado, Rocket & Cranberry Sauce (Vegan & Low Gluten)
Yield: 1 x 12-14 inch pizza
Pizza Base Ingredients:
- 1⅓ cup wholegrain spelt flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 scoop Half Human Protein powder
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 6 tablespoons filtered water
Topping Ingredients:
- ½ an avocado (sliced)
- 5 rocket leaves
- 3 tablespoons of cranberry sauce (sugar free)
- ½ cup dairy free cheddar cheese
Sauce Ingredients:
- 1 cup of tomato pasta sauce
- 2 crushed garlic cloves (peeled)
- ½ teaspoon ground Himalayan salt
Instructions:
- Start by mixing all the sauce ingredients together, then set aside (the sauce will thicken up).
- Mix all the dry ingredients together in a bowl.
- Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil.
- Slowly add a tablespoon of water at a time and start kneading the dough for about 30 seconds in between.
- When you can roll the dough into a dough ball that is neither too sticky nor too dry, let it sit in a covered bowl for 10-15 minutes.
- Pre-heat the oven to 200 °C.
- Roll out the dough on a well-floured surface, into a 12-14cm thin pizza base.
- Prick the pizza multiple times all over with a fork to prevent bubbles forming in the dough as it cooks.
- Bake the crust for about 12 minutes.
- Spread the tomato pasta sauce on the base, then top with grated cheddar cheese and bake on the bottom rack for a further 10 minutes until these toppings are cooked.
- Then when the pizza is ready, add the remaining toppings; slices of avocado, rocket leaves and cranberry sauce. Add extra cheese and fresh basil if desired. Cut into slices and enjoy your high protein spelt pizza.

2) High Protein Paleo Breakfast Coconut Pizza Recipe (Gluten Free & Dairy Free)
Yield: 4 mini pizza bases
Pizza Base Ingredients:
- 8 large egg whites
- 1/4 cup coconut flour (sifted)
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 scoop Half Human protein powder
- Spices of choice (including salt, pepper and mixed herbs)
Topping Ingredients:
- 4 cups of spinach
- 4 cup of dairy free mozzarella cheese (grated)
- 2 tablespoons of coconut oil
- 4 medium size eggs
Sauce Ingredients:
- 1 cup of tomato pasta sauce
- 2 crushed garlic cloves (peeled)
- ½ teaspoon ground Himalayan salt
Instructions:
- Start by mixing all the sauce ingredients together, then set aside (the sauce will thicken up).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg whites until they are no longer transparent.
- Sift in the coconut flour and protein powder and whisk very well, until no lumps remain.
- Add the baking powder, mixed spices and continue to whisk until completely combined.
- Over a low heat, heat up a small pan and grease lightly.
- When the pan is hot enough, pour the batter in the pan and ensure it is fully coated. Cook for 3 minutes on the one side, and then as soon as it is ready flip the pizza. Cooking for an extra 2 minutes.
- Continue in the above way until all the batter has been used.
- Once all the pizzas are cooked, top with the tomato pasta sauce mix.
- In a separate pan, melt the coconut oil and then add the spinach and mozzarella cheese. Once the spinach has wilted and the mozzarella has melted and combined with the spinach, spread this mixture out evenly over all the pizza bases.
- Then crack an egg over each of the four pizza bases, in the centre. Putting them straight into the oven afterwards. Cooking them until the eggs have firmed up but still ever so slightly gooey in the middle.
- Add extra cheese and fresh basil or salt if desired. Enjoy your high protein breakfast pizza recipe.

3) High Protein Macadamia Focaccia Pizza Recipe (Gluten Free & Dairy Free)
Yield: 1 x 12-14 inch pizza
Pizza Base Ingredients:
- 6 large egg whites
- 1/2 cup macadamia flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 scoop Half Human protein powder
- Spices of choice (including salt, pepper and mixed herbs)
Dipping Ingredients:
- ⅔ cup of olive oil
- ⅓ cup of balsamic vinegar
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk the egg whites until they are not transparent.
- Sift in the macadamia flour and protein powder and whisk very well, until no lumps remain.
- Add the baking powder, mixed spices and continue to whisk until completely combined.
- Grease a 14 inch pizza pan.
- Pour the batter in the pan and cook for 10 minutes, and then as soon as it is forming a solid pizza base, prick the base all over with a fork to ensure no bubbles form in the base.
- Cook the focaccia pizza base until it is golden brown and soft but firm.
- In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil and balsamic vinegar.
- Cut into slices and enjoy dipping your high protein focaccia pizza.

4) High Protein Chickpea Square Pizza Recipe With Zucchini Ribbons, Chilli Paste & Balsamic Vinegar (Gluten Free & Dairy Free)
Yield: 1 x 10 x 10 inch square pizza base
Pizza Base Ingredients:
- 4 large egg whites
- 1/3 cup chickpea flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 scoop Half Human protein powder
- spices of choice (including salt, pepper and mixed herbs)
Topping Ingredients:
- zucchini (sliced into thin ribbons)
- harissa chilli paste
- balsamic vinegar
- grated mozzarella sauce (dairy free)
- chopped fresh basil
Sauce Ingredients:
- 1 cup of tomato pasta sauce
- 2 crushed garlic cloves (peeled)
- ½ teaspoon ground Himalayan salt
Instructions:
- Start by mixing all the sauce ingredients together, then set aside (the sauce will thicken up).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk the eggs until smooth.
- Sift in the chickpea flour and protein powder and whisk very well, until no lumps remain.
- Add the baking powder, mixed spices and continue to whisk until completely combined.
- Over a low heat on the hob, heat up a square grill pan and grease lightly.
- When the pan is hot enough, pour the batter in the pan and ensure it is fully coated. Cook for 9-10 minutes until the batter has set and is fully cooked underneath and on top. Take off the heat once done.
- Then spread the tomato pasta sauce on the top of the pizza (whilst in the pan), and then top with grated cheese, zucchini ribbons, harissa chilli paste, balsamic vinegar and freshly chopped basil.
- Cut into slices and enjoy your high protein macadamia square pizza.

5) High Protein Simple Gluten Free Pizza Base With Fresh Chicken, Pineapple & Mushroom (Gluten Free & Dairy Free)
Yield: 1 x 12-14 inch pizza base
Pizza Base Ingredients:
- 2 cups quinoa flour
- 1 teaspoon Himalayan salt
- ½ cup filtered water (at room temperature)
- 1 scoop Half Human protein powder
Topping Ingredients:
- chopped red onion
- grated mozzarella (dairy free)
- 1 cup mushrooms (sliced)
- ½ cup pineapple (sliced and cubed)
- ½ cup fresh chicken breast (cut into strips)
Sauce Ingredients:
- 1 cup of tomato pasta sauce
- 2 crushed garlic cloves (peeled)
- ½ teaspoon ground Himalayan salt
Instructions:
- Start by mixing all the sauce ingredients together, then set aside (the sauce will thicken up).
- Pre-heat the oven to 200ºC.
- Mix all the pizza base ingredients in a mixing bowl with a spoon. Then use your hands to knead the dough until it is well combined. Add more water if the dough mixture feels too dry. Ensure the dough doesn’t get too sticky. If it does, add more flour. The consistency should be smooth, and not too dry nor too sticky.
- Take the dough and place it on a pre-greased round pizza baking tray. Work it into a round shaped pizza by hand. Raising the edges slightly.
- Cook in the over for 10-15minutes.
- Whilst the pizza is cooking, cook the chicken slices on the hob in a small pre-greased pan. Keep to one side when cooked.
- Remove the pizza base from the oven and then add the tomato passata sauce, grated cheese followed by the slices of pineapple, red onion, and mushrooms.
- Cook for a further 5 minutes in the oven until all the toppings have cooked and the base is firm and crisp.
- Cut into slices and enjoy your high protein simple gluten free pizza recipe filled with delicious toppings.
